Qualifying For Medicaid
Medicaid is for individuals that are with out means to pay for care on their own. Each state will have different rules that define when a patient qualifies for Medicaid.
There are usually different time limits allowed for an individual to divest from their assets. This has increasingly become an issue for many states and may preclude an individual from being covered by Medicaid. The following are some general criteria for qualifying for Medicaid assistance:
a. Have a certain minimum of assets.
b. Be a full time resident of the particular state they are seeking Medicaid benefits in.
c. Meet the income limitation test.
d. Requires the kind of care provided by a nursing home.
e. Is at least 65 years of age, disabled or blind.
